Training:
Sky has had a wide variety of training, from Hunters and Dressage to Pleasure riding. I will summerize the
training she has had in each area below:
HUNTER/JUMPING- Sky has done 2'6" courses and free jumped to 4' (has
jumped 3'6" single fences undersaddle) with good form and extrordinary manuverability. She has very desirable hunter type
movement. She cleans up at local shows easily (see show record). Could go very far if I had the money for the big shows.
DRESSAGE- Has shown training level/ 1st level, has trained up to 3rd level (4 tempi flying changes, canter piruettes,
started passage/piaffe). She is currently out of shape and is moving pretty down hill right now, but she will rock
back on her haunches very well (especially for a TB) once she's in better shape. Sky is very responsive, and has beautiful
movement. Currently does leg yeilds, shoulder in, haunches in, 3 loop serpentines, counter canter, etc. She has won all entered
dressage suitability classes, and recived a 65% at trainig level with a 12 year old rider.
EVENTING- (Jumping and
dressage abilities stated above). Sky loves cross country courses! Sometimes timid through water, but loves climibing obsticles,
and going through courses.
ENGLISH/WESTERN PLEASURE or Equitation- Sky is the Perfect pleasure and Equitation mount! She has long smooth gaits,
a great personality, and flashy looks. A true show stopper. Just sit back and win! She has won many Championships and High
Points (at every show, I might add), and has never been less than 5th place.
REINING- Believe it or not, she's got a 6' sliding stop without sliding plates! She'll never spin like a pro, but she
may very well be showable at the lower levels. I've just done some of this with her for fun a few years ago (around 2004-2005).
SHOWMANSHIP-
Very easy to handle and receptive to comands. Has gotten many compliments on her conformation, as well as her turns on the
haunches.
TRAILS- Sky is ok on trails with a buddy or great in open lanes, but does not like to go into forested areas without
a "steady eddy" by her side. Not a trail horse for anyone but the most experienced riders, though she is better in open lanes
and unforested areas.

General:
Name: Sky Yak Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Mare Reg. Assn.: The Jockey Club Reg. Number: 9030330 Height:
16.1 hands Weight: 1200 lbs Color: Dark Bay
Markings: White star on forhead, left hind white w/ small patch
of black on inside, left front cornet and heel white.
Manners: Sky is an absolute sweet heart, however she is a mare
and can be hormonal at times (particularly in the spring and early summer months). Great for the Vet, Farrier, etc. She is
a typical TB and can be spooky, but she is a show horse and her presence in the ring certainly makes up for it. Hesitent to
load in unfamilier trailers (I beleive this is due to past bad experiences), but hauls well once settled.
Comments
from Emma Dye (dressage trainer)- "She has very strong shoulders and hindquarters..." "She has a great walk..."
Rider
Suitability: Sky is best suited to someone who is experienced or an intermediate rider working with a trainer. She needs
someone who is relaxed in the saddle and will not try to fight her as she is very sensitive and responds willingly to very
light cues. Sky has a very good sense of how knowledgable her rider is and will try to test experienced riders the first time
to see if they will actually make her work. She can be ridden by beginners, but only under direct supervision.
